Artworks & Posters The Revolution Will Not Be Televised (2021) — Max Skorwider
Originally an illustration commissioned by Polish magazine Tygodnik Polityka, Max Skorwider’s “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” tries to capture the intricate relationship between politics and media in Poland, where the most consumed television channels are state-owned.
Behind Skorwider’s squiggly, child-like brush strokes — a uniquely recognised illustration style of his, are the reality about the current state of media in Poland, where the ruling party can steer the narrative to their liking and present them to the mass public. The old style CRT televisions in the illustration is perhaps a hint on the demographics of the television channels, and the reason why this could be a serious issue in the Age of Disinformation.
